Local Rule 5 — DWI Counterattack School
Designates the D.W.I. Counterattack School (Broward County Commission on Alcoholism) as an approved school for court-ordered attendance (Fla. R. Traf. Ct. 6.110(a)).
Local Rule 1 — Five divisions of the Circuit Court (Broward)
Creates the five Circuit Court divisions — General Civil, Criminal, Probate, Juvenile, Family — and defines the Family Division's one-family jurisdiction (dissolution, custody/support, domestic violence and related matters).
Local Rule 10A — Motion conferral + certification (the load-bearing one)
Before setting any motion for hearing, counsel must attempt direct-communication resolution and certify a good-faith attempt to resolve or narrow the issues. Cited by nearly every Broward division-procedures document; approved by the Florida Supreme Court Jan. 23, 2018.
Local Rule 3 — Traffic Violations Bureau
Establishes a Traffic Violations Bureau within the Clerk of the County Court under Fla. R. Traf. Ct. 6.100(a) (Burnstein, C.J., Nov. 1, 1988).
Local Rule 8 — Proposed Orders and Judgments
Submitting party must furnish sufficient copies with stamped addressed envelopes; proposed orders must go to opposing counsel BEFORE submission to the court and must be titled to conform with the motion.
Local Rule 4 — Approved Defensive Driving School
Approves the National Highway Safety Council Defensive Driving course as a school to which traffic courts may require attendance (Fla. R. Traf. Ct. 6.110(a)).
Local Rule 11 — County civil ex parte motions to compel discovery
Where a motion to compel alleges complete failure to respond to discovery with no extension requested, a county judge may enter an EX PARTE order compelling compliance within 10 days — the source of the "ten (10) days… failing which sanctions may be imposed" language quoted across Broward county-civil division procedures.
AO 2026-03-Gen — Use of AI in Court Filings [VACATED eff. 6/15/2026 by AO 2026-19-Gen]
The 17th Circuit's circuit-wide AI disclosure/certification mandate (Jan 2026, twice amended) was VACATED in its entirety effective June 15, 2026 by Chief Judge Phillips's AO 2026-19-Gen, expressly citing the statewide framework (AOSC26-12; Rule 2.515(d)(2), SC2026-0673). Several division procedure pages still cite the vacated order.
